Cable Tie

With the cable ties from ABB, Band-It, Elematic, and Pro-Install, cables, wires, or conduits are securely held together. The package of cable ties now includes not only the Ty-Rap® – originally from Thomas & Betts, now from ABB – but also a wide range of cable ties that can be used for a variety of purposes. This includes plastic ties with metal closures, entirely plastic ties, and metal ties primarily used for heavy (industrial) applications. There is also a detectable variant in the assortment.

CABLE MANAGEMENT CABLE TIE

A cable tie is a handy tool for bundling cables, cords, wires, pipes and hoses. No matter how small a cable tie is, it plays a large and important role in cable management. The cost is relatively low, it is easy to use and the possibilities are endless.

A cable tie, also called a bundle strap, ty-rap (or tyrap), tiewrap (or tie wrap or tie-wrap), colson strap or slash strap, is an elongated strip with an opening or eye on one side and a ribbed surface on the other side. The opening has a small barb. When the pointed end is inserted, the strip can be tightened. However, the barb prevents the end from being pulled back; the loop can only be tightened. To tighten the cable tie to the correct strength, use tightening pliers. To loosen the cable tie, it must be cut or severed.

DETECTABLE CABLE TIE

Nedelko carries an extensive line of detectable cable ties from Elematic. These special cable ties can be identified by metal detectors, x-ray equipment and by visual inspection. The cable ties are very suitable for applications in the food and pharmaceutical industries as well as in other contamination-sensitive industries where detection equipment is used.

Detectable products ensure that the risks of contamination by foreign substances in production systems can be prevented.

In this way, they help companies to comply with the HACCP principles in the food industry, the GMP guidelines in the pharmaceutical sector and the general ISO 9000 standards.

STAINLESS STEEL CABLE TIE VS. PLASTIC CABLE TIE

A stainless steel cable tie is used to bind cables, wires and other materials together, even under very extreme conditions. The steel cable ties are made of high-quality stainless steel, they are resistant to corrosion, radiation, extremely low, but also extremely high temperatures and aggressive chemical compounds. A stainless steel cable tie also has a high tension force. This is ideal for industrial applications, such as the (petro)chemical industry, the food industry, shipbuilding, transport, offshore and many other harsh environments.

A plastic cable tie is also used to bind wires, cables, cords and other materials together, but is mainly used for electrical cables, because plastic is not conductive.

There are also hook and loop cable ties, such as the VELCRO® Brand ONE-WRAP® Strap. These are more expensive than standard cable ties, but are reusable, making hook and loop cable ties durable.
